When Lovise and Sofia emigrated in 1912

This picture was taken when my two Great Aunts Sofia and Lovise immigrated to Canada in 1912. Here they are with some friends and their sister Ida, photographed in Bodø before they left. According to the family myth they wanted to travel with Titanic, but couldn't get tickets, and so they left with the ship they could get tickets for, Cunard Line's Ivernia. They sailed in march, a month before Titanic did.

The passenger list for Ivernia, with Sofia and Lovise's names.

On October 19th I am going to Southampton to travel over seas with Cunard Line's Queen Mary 2 Southampton-New York in 6 days. I am sure quite more luxurious than in 1912...
